Was AF member for years and tried a few gyms - NTP, Marymount, UT, this new one sprouted up recently and since it was newr my house I decided to visit it. Never looked back, it has all the equipment I need and wasn't crowded. Am a regular now.

View on GoogleUpdate as of 22 Dec 2025: promoting this from a 4 star to a 5 star as they fixed the only things that were in the way - the bars and plates are no longer oily, and the water cooler now serves cold water. However, I discovered another minor flaw - when training around sunset the reflection of the sun from the floor/rightmost platform makes it very bright when you're using the leftmost platform. A curtain/blinds on the west facing windows would solve this. A brand new AF at L2 of the newly rebuilt Thomson Community Club. They just opened a couple days ago, and I visited on a Monday from around noon to 2pm. All the equipment are new. There are 2 full power racks with attached platforms and 3-5 sets of Hammer Strength competition bumper plates, F1 recreation barbells, a half rack with black rubberised Hammer Strength plates, a Smith Machine, Hammer Strength dumbbells to 50kg (in 2kg increments), Hammer Strength fixed barbells to 45kg, Hammer Strength and LifeFitness plate loaded/cable machines, and some treadmills/steppers/elliptical for cardio. Space isn't very big but it felt very roomy as the equipment isn't jam packed (there's room for growth) and there's natural light coming from outside. They're still unpacking some stuff so not everything's finalised yet, but majority of the equipment are there. I kinda like this outlet for now, except for 1 serious flaw that plagues most new outlets with new equipment - the bars and plates are very oily, make grip a very big problem. I must've spent 20min just wiping my bar down with soap and a wet cloth to get it to a usable state for pulls, and even then I had to use straps. Hopefully this gets better over the next few months (it probably will when the equipment is more seasoned). Facilities wise, there's a unisex bathroom with 3 cubicles, a changing room, and a sink. There's also a water fountain, but the water isn't cold.
