I’m a 59 YO female and I trained 24 sessions with Alphonse at Oompf! Fitness Bukit Timah. I had a straightforward goal of weight loss of 8 kg ( Life just happened !! 😩) when I first met up with Alphonse. Alphonse , with his vast experience and straight talk ( I loved this cos it cut straight to the point) , simply made 2 clear points from the very start. He would train me to support my fitness but the weight loss would need me to fix my diet. He changed my diet-focus to working on my insulin / hunger hormones and over the sessions, the weight peeled off ( including that menopause baby- Michelin Tyre be-gone !) without an unhealthy focus of counting calories or hunger inducing restriction ( not saying knowing roughly how many calories one is eating or calorie deficit is not important for weight loss , but he trained me hard and with his advice I still ate very well and did 18:6 IF very successfully without having to fight hunger or feel deprived). I lost all the 8 kg I wanted to lose ( achieved in about 17 weeks) and now also have the tools to bring my weight down a little eg by about a 1 kg for the feasting seasons in my life ( eg Christmas , celebratory feasts ). On the training front, Alphonse put my form to work, taking me to full ranges of motion and guiding me to next levels, by training with me to empty the tank. Not many trainers like to do this because the client gets tired and so the trainer really needs to know how much more to train so that the client can become stronger and not just be left doing the exercises on repeat at a “ comfortable level” but never progressing. Alphonse’s super power is his clear straight talk and vast experience to pin point the issues. With his help, I also managed to change my body composition with my fat composition reducing by 9.8 percentage points ( based on InBody scan machine at Oompf). My recent full health screen was an A report on all fronts save for bone density which is an issue in my family. Alphonse looks like a scary gym master but he is in fact a benevolent Life Coach in real life - he dispenses his promptings kindly and with much grace and always in a manner that I could relate to. I am grateful for all the hard work Alphonse put in with me and would highly recommend training with him.
